Walking

Keswick and the Northern Lakes offer a network of walks, all of great interest and with stunning views.

Several fells such as Catbells and Castle Crag have been made famous by the BBC series "Wainwright Walks".

Cycling and Mountain Biking

We are situated on the C2C route and this fascinating area should appeal to cyclists of all ages and abilities. You can choose a route on country lanes or an off road track in a stunning Lakeland landscape.

There is so much choice; eating out in Keswick won't be a disappointment. Choose from traditional Lakeland pubs, restaurants serving international cuisine and cafes.

Shopping

There is a market which is held every Saturday, in the main market square around the Moot Hall, which dates back to the 12th century. You will find stalls selling local produce, arts and crafts. For outdoor adventures, there is a wide choice of outdoor shops. There's also an amazing variety of independent shops and galleries.

Arts and Culture

Keswick has a wealth of art galleries and links to the literary greats. It has a theatre, set on the shores of Derwentwater. Theatre by the Lake is Cumbria’s only year round professional producing theatre. You can also visit the cinema at Keswick; the Lonsdale Alhambra cinema offers first class cinema entertainment in traditional surroundings.

Heritage

There are a number of museums to visit in and around Keswick, these include: The Cumberland Pencil Museum, Keswick Museum and Art Gallery and Keswick Mining Museum.

Festivals

Keswick hosts many festivals across the year including; film, beer, mountain, jazz as well as a host of other countryside events.
